“Prespa AdvenTOURS” Successfully Held – Over 50 Participants Experienced the Magic of Prespa

On August 15, the inclusive cycling tour “Prespa AdvenTOURS” was successfully held in Pretor and Slivnica as part of the “Magic of Prespa” project, implemented by the Equality Association from Skopje in partnership with the Future of Tradition Association from Resen.

In a peaceful and positive atmosphere, over 50 participants rode standard and adaptive bicycles along the shores of Pretor and Slivnica, enjoying nature, physical activity, and the company of others by Lake Prespa.

The participants included both adults and children, with adaptive bicycles generating particular interest. Following the ride, during the picnic and social gathering in Pretor, attendees had the opportunity to try out the various bicycles and see firsthand how a bicycle adapted for diverse needs functions. Representatives from the UNDP also attended the event, further highlighting the importance of initiatives that link inclusion, active tourism, and local community development.

“The most important thing for us was to create an event where diverse people could ride together, socialize, and experience Prespa without barriers. We are especially delighted to have seen children and adults eager to try out the adaptive bicycles; this shows us that it is precisely through such experiences that greater understanding, acceptance, and a natural sense of equality are fostered,” said Gere Tripkov from the Equality Association.

The first “Rent Adaptive Velo” in Prespa

The cycling tour also served to launch the new “Rent Adaptive Bike” service, ensuring that adaptive bicycles remain available beyond the one-day event. These bikes will be available for use and rental through the “Future of Tradition” Association. This creates a lasting opportunity for people with disabilities, their families, and all visitors to the Prespa region to enjoy an adaptive cycling experience even after the project activity concludes.

“The Magic of Prespa” Continues – The Prespa Retreat Is Next

The next major event is the “Prespa Retreat”, taking place from September 1 to 5 in Brajchino, Prespa—a five-day experience dedicated to relaxing the body and mind, movement, music, yoga, Ayurveda, and connecting with oneself and nature. With a limited number of participants and a program led by multiple mentors, the Prespa Retreat continues to create space for new, sustainable, and authentic tourism experiences that bring together nature, health, well-being, and people. The “Magic of Prespa” project is part of the #EUforPrespa programme, supported by the European Union Delegation to North Macedonia and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to promote inclusive and active tourism, accessibility, well-being, equal participation, and the natural potential of the Prespa region through concrete and sustainable activities.
