Positive experiences for educational, social and healthcare workers from the visit to Spain

From September 15 to 19, the second of three transnational camps was held in Alzira, Spain, as part of the project "I, YOU, WE, THEY CAN", which aimed to explore positive inclusive practices for improving the skills of professionals from the educational, social and health sectors from Macedonia, Spain and Poland.

During the introductory presentation by Ms. Carmen Herrero, the social services of the partner organization IDEA-Alzira were presented, which aim to create and implement programs for improving the skills of people with disabilities in various areas of the labor market. As part of the program, the School for Chefs and Waiters, at IDEA – Alzira, was also visited, with a special emphasis on the inclusion of students from socially vulnerable social groups.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education in the Valencia region presented specialized educational strategies and programs, and a visit was organized to the specialized educational unit at the Lluís Vivѐs Primary School. Through the discussions, positive practices with a high degree of success were highlighted, as well as the challenges in education in the wider Valencia region.

The La Nostra Veu association, which has been active for over 50 years, presented its active services aimed at people with disabilities of different ages. A direct visit to the association’s premises was also organized, through which the participants learned about the programs for psychosocial support for people with disabilities, with an emphasis on youth and children with autism spectrum disorder.

At the closing ceremony, organized at the University of Valencia by the CADIR association, representatives and participants from the three countries were part of the official launch of the #YoTambién mobile application. The promoted application offers effective access to resources and information for people from socially vulnerable categories, including people with disabilities, who were affected by the floods in the Valencia region in 2024.

“Through this camp in Alzira, we continue to strive to strengthen international cooperation in the direction of exchanging positive practices that contribute to the creation of better quality services and more appropriate access and communication between professionals from the state and public sector and people with disabilities,” said Ružica Stojanovska, project coordinator at the Equality Association.

In the upcoming period, preparations will continue for the organization of the third and final camp in Kielce, Poland, as well as preparations for developing a Manual that will offer positive practices for improving the skills of professionals, with the aim of providing better access and services for people with disabilities.

The camp was implemented in partnership with IDEA – Ayuntamiento de Alzira (Spain), Rozprawy o Europie (Poland), Erasmus+ KA2 program in the field of youth, co-financed by the European Union and supported by the National Agency for European Educational Programs and Mobility.
